F.A.Q. about the Rachavadee Beach Resort and it's surroundings.
Hotel and Resort house rules differ from country to country, locality to locality and sometimes even between neighboring resorts. More about this and other questions we regularly hear from our valued guest are answered here.
Q: You are only 100 Km's away from Hua Hin. Is the water really so much clearer and the beach so much bigger and cleaner than it is just to your north?
A: Yes, it is!
A: Yes, we dearly care about our own and the world's environment, especially after we barely escaped the faith of becoming one of Thailand's biggest industrial estates. The plans for building one or two huge coal powered electric plants have fortunately been shelved a few years ago. Most of the Rachavadee's Eco efforts occur behind the scenes (like the special filtration system in our pool), but one of the most effective and coastly efforts is visible on the back roof of most bungalows: the solor panels that provide all of the hot water for our guests. We also installed an automatic shut down system in all bungalows, which will power down all engery gubbeling monsters like the airconditioning and TV once you leave the room. We also try to use recycled wood and old leaves where possible.
Q: Why are there different rates for weekends and weekdays?
A: As BanKrut and Ban Saphan are still very much an off the beaten track location, most of our clientele consists of people on a weekend trip
from Bangkok or Hua Hin and Cha-Am. In an effort to create a bit more of balance between the very quiet weekdays and the much busier weekends, we decided to offer a small discount on the bungalows during the weekdays.
Q: How about deposits? Do I have to pay the full amount for our stay upfront, months in advance?
A: No, we only require a 25% deposit within 7 days after we send you a confirmation. The remaining 75% is not due until 15 days prior to arrival. If we receive a cancellation before that time, we can refund the paid deposit minus bank and / or possible other charges involved in the returning of these funds.
Q: How about other charges?
A: We require any requested funds to arrive in our accounts Nett, free of any charges. For online credit card payments there is a 4% surcharge. Bank transfer charges will differ between banks, countries, currencies etc. As for service charge and taxes: those are already included in our published rates.
Q: I noticed that your rates are higher during Long weekends and the New Year's and Songkran periods. I understand the reason why, but where can I see what those long weekends are?
A: Without elaborating on what the days are, the Long Weekends in Thailand for 2011 are:
18 & 19 Feb, 13-16 Apr (New Years peak season rate for Songkran festival aka Thai New Years), 30 Apr & 1 May, 14-16 May, 14-16 July, 12 & 13 Aug, 22 & 23 Oct., 3 & 4 Dec. and 10 & 11 Dec. 30 Dec. will be weekend rate followed by New Year's rate for 31 dec. & 1 + 2 January 2011. Note that many of these dates are holidays for civil servants and major corporations only.
Q: Can I pay by credit card in the Rachavadee Resort?
A: Unfortunately not (yet). Currently we can only accept cash payments or bank transfers in advance (TT). There are a couple of ATM's just down the road, however, and we will gladly take you there when you need. You can pay the required deposit by credit card online, but note that there is a small surcharge for that.
Q: I noticed a small WiFi logo on your front page. Does the Rachavadee Resort on Bangkrud beach have WiFi and the use of it charged or Free?
A: WiFi is available in the Rachavadee restaurant, next to the swimming pool and in some of the Pool Side family bungalows between the hours of 09:00 and 21:00. There is No charge for it
and we are planning to extend the range to cover more of the bungalows soon.
Q: Does my GSM mobile and GPRS work on Baan Krood beach?
A: Yes, there is coverage everywhere. You will actually see it switching between a few different base stations when walking around the resort.
Q: My dog loves to run on the beach and since you have so much empty beach: Can I bring my dog to your resort?
A: No, although we love dogs, we can no longer allow dogs in our resort. Too many of our guests have indicated that they do not feel comfortable when other people's dogs run around the resort or on the beach.
Q: Your place looks amazing! How long has the Rachavadee resort been operational?
A: Thank you. The owner, manager and staff take great pride in this place which shows just about everywhere. You will proably notice the smaller details like light switches, clothing hangers, the all natural decorations outside the rooms and the weathercock on the roof. The resort has been open since the second half of 2006, so depiste the relatively harsh seaside conditions, everything is still in great shape.
Q: Are there any shops or other restaurants nearby?
A: Not really within walking disctance, but there are several within biking / driving distance. Feel free to ask us for a drop-off / pickup if you'd like to go out or ask us for one of the funky motorcycle with sidecart taxi's if you'd like to visit small towns a bit further away.
Q: Can I see your resort and beach on Google Maps or Google earth?
A: Unfortunately the images around Bangkrut and Bang Saphan are not very clearly visible on both Google Maps and Goolge Earth yet. The location is here: Google Maps location of the Rachavadee resort Ban Krud.
Q: I am traveling to Koh Tao, Koh Samui, Koh Phangan or another southern destination and I do not want to do the entire journey in one time. Is your place worth the stopover or should I just spend a few days in a better know location like Cha-am or Hua Hin?
A: Many of the people that tend to take a short break in Bankrut are actually underway to one of those islands. Many of them arrive with the idea of spending one or two nights here and end up spending a week. If you like entertainment, lot's of shops and restaurants, a 5 star resort and don't care much for beach, sea and nature, we highly recommend one of the many luxury resorts that Hua Hin has to offer. If you prefer to see more of Thailand and have a proper beach vacation, you won't be dissappointed here in Baan Krood.
